Virtual Server 2005 may stop responding if you install it on a portable computer (888029)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Virtual Server 2005
SYMPTOMSMicrosoft Virtual Server 2005 may stop responding if you install it on a portable computer. CAUSEThis issue typically occurs on portable computers that have both the following conditions: - Power management software is enabled.
- The Power schemes setting is not set to Always On.
For example, if you change the Power Schemes setting to Max Battery, you may change the onboard system clock and the core voltage.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, we recommend that you disable all power management software in the basic input/output system (BIOS) of the portable computer that is running Virtual Server 2005. Alternatively, you can create a power management profile that does not change the onboard system clock or the core voltage. To do this, follow these steps: - Log on to the portable computer that is running Virtual Server 2005 by using an account that has administrative permissions.
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Power Options.
- In the Power Options Properties dialog box, click the Power Schemes tab.
- Click to select Always On as the Power Schemes setting, and then click OK.
