SYMPTOMSWhen you click Compact virtual hard disk after you inspect a virtual hard disk in Microsoft Virtual Server 2005, the task might take a long time to finish. You might also experience this problem when you merge virtual disks. For example, if you merge a differencing hard disk image with the parent image, the task might take a long time to finish.CAUSEThis problem can occur if the host operating system is using Intel Physical Addressing Extension (PAE) support. You may want to turn on PAE support if your computer has more than 4 gigabytes (GB) of installed memory.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, turn off PAE support in the host operating system.
