DNS records may not be updated successfully over a VPN connection in Windows 2000 Server (887428)

SYMPTOMSWhen you use a Microsoft Domain Name System (DNS) server to update DNS records over a virtual private network (VPN) connection, some DNS records may not be updated successfully.
CAUSEThis issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true: - You are using a third-party firewall that has the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) enforcement feature enabled.
- You are using a third-party firewall that blocks DNS update requests.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, disable the UDP enforcement feature on your third-party firewall or configure your third-party firewall to permit DNS update requests.
