This talk focuses on the best way to use the interfaces for the search, indexing, and My Site features from portal deployments within a farm environment. This talk also discusses the user experience when you use these new shared services, especially usability from both the parent and child portal environments.

Ryan J. Phillips is a knowledge worker, concentrating on Exchange Conferencing Services, Exchange Instant Messaging, Live Communications, and SharePoint 2001/2003 services. He has been with Microsoft for more than seven and one-half years. Ryan has been a network support professional, an Exchange 5.5/2000 support professional and beta engineer, and an alliance support consultant, concentrating in the collaboration workspace.
His primary responsibility currently is to provide onsite consulting for the SharePoint Services, including deployment and administration of the services. He also helps evaluate interoperability of third-party vendor services, as they relate to functionality in SharePoint for workflow and load balancing solutions.
