You may not be able to play a radio station in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (887313)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to play a radio station, the radio station that you select may not play as expected. If you try to select another radio station, that station may not play either.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • Your have two FM radio tuner cards installed in your computer.
  • Only one of these cards has an antenna connected to it.
In this scenario, Media Center connects only to the first FM radio tuner that is listed for that computer, even though that FM radio tuner may not have an antenna attached.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, connect an antenna to the other FM radio tuner card that is installed in your computer.
