Thumbnail links continue to appear as recent items after you remove the linked folders from Media Center tracking in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (887275)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, when you open Media Center and move the pointer over My Pictures, My Music, or My Videos, thumbnail links appear as recent items. This behavior occurs even though you removed the folders that contain the linked media files from Media Center tracking.
For example, when you open My Pictures, My Music, or My Videos, you can use the Add folders option to add folders that contain media files. When you open the folders and then open the media files in Media Center, thumbnail links for these files appear as recent pictures, recent music or recent videos when you move the pointer over My Pictures, My Music, or My Videos in Media Center. However, if you later use Remove folders to remove these folders from Media Center tracking, thumbnail links to the files still appear in Media Center.CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the files that you opened are still on the hard disk. When you use Remove folders to remove the folders, the folders and the files that they contain are not deleted from the hard disk.RESOLUTION
No action is required to resolve this behavior. As you continue to open media files, the thumbnail links that appear as recent pictures, recent music or recent videos are updated to match the media files that were opened most recently.
