Your mouse pointer cannot move from the screen where Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 is running (887213)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
SYMPTOMSIf you run Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 on
a computer that is set up to use multiple monitors, your mouse pointer remains on the
monitor that is running Media Center. Additionally, you cannot move the pointer to another
monitor.CAUSEThis behavior occurs when you run Media Center in
Full-Screen mode on one monitor in a multiple monitor setup. Media Center uses
DirectX to create the Full-Screen mode. This restricts the mouse pointer to the
same monitor screen as Media Center and prevents the pointer from leaving the
screen.WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, switch Media Center
from Full-Screen mode to Windowed mode, and then manually resize the Media
Center window to fit to the screen. To switch from Full-Screen mode to Windowed
mode, use one of the following methods:
- Click View in Window in the
upper-right corner of the title bar.
- Double-click the Media Center window title bar.
