The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows 2000
SYMPTOMSSome video cards can rotate or flip the screen orientation. However, when you try to change the Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 Series screen orientation while video is playing, you may receive one of the following error messages if your computer is running Microsoft Windows 2000: Error message 1Overlay not present Error message 2The graph could not change state. No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection. (Return code: 0x80040217) Error message 3Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The file is either corrupt or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play. (0xC00D1199) This problem does not occur with the Windows Media Player 9 Series on Microsoft Windows XP. CAUSE The version of the video renderer that is included with Windows 2000 does not have the overlay surface management that the version of the video renderer that is included with Windows XP has. When the orientation is flipped or rotated, and the video card driver cannot flip the view internally, the video driver may lose the overlay surface.STATUS This behavior is by design.
