Microsoft has released a guide that explains the design and architecture of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. Microsoft Information Technology (IT) upgraded the complex, worldwide messaging infrastructure at Microsoft that it had operated. It upgraded this infrastructure to use Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 on clustered Windows Server 2003-based computers that are attached to Storage Area Network (SAN) systems. As a result, Microsoft IT consolidated mailbox servers, improved mobile messaging, and enhanced its ability to back up and restore mailbox data.
