Some screen savers cause the FM radio to pause in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (886845)

SYMPTOMS

When you listen to FM radio in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the radio may pause unexpectedly when the screen saver starts.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if you are using a screen saver that has support for audio playback. For example, the following screen savers cause the FM radio to pause when they are active:
  • 3D FlowerBox
  • 3D Flying objects
  • 3D Pipes
  • 3D Text
  • Aquarium
  • Da Vinci
  • Nature
  • Space
Note These screen savers may not affect other audio functions in Media Center, such as CD audio.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, select a screen saver that does not block the audio from the FM radio. To do this, open the Display tool in Control Panel. Under Screen saver, click the Screen Saver tab, and then select a screen saver that is not listed in the "Symptoms" section.
