SYMPTOMS
When you start your Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005-based computer for the first time, and the First Run Wizard appears, you cannot enter numbers or text because your Media Center remote does not include a numeric keypad.
CAUSE
Some Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005-based computers use a smaller remote that does not include a numeric keypad. Typically, this style of remote has the following functions:

Any additional input must be performed by using a keyboard and a pointing device, such as a mouse.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:
- Use a keyboard for entering any numbers.
