Your Access query may not convert some time values correctly in Windows Server 2003 (886707)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Web Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition for Itanium-based Systems

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Access 2000 or in Microsoft Office Access 2003, a query that converts a time value to a number with a Double FieldSize property setting, may not return a correct value. For example, when you enter a time value of 5:20:05 P.M. in a number field, Access returns a value of 0.722280092592592520. The correct value is 0.722280092592592630.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you upgrade your Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer to Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2003 uses a different procedure to convert a time value to a Double data type.
