SYMPTOMSWhen you use the "greater than" symbol (>) to send command prompt output from a system folder to a text file, or you use the pipe
character (|) to send command prompt output from a system folder to another
command, you may receive an access violation in Cmd.exe or
in Command.com.CAUSEThis problem occurs when you use a computer that is
running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1), Microsoft Windows XP
Service Pack 2 (SP2), or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, and you have a Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI)
installed on your computer.RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is now available
from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is
described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this
specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you
are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the
