The Web user interface in Windows Powered Network-Attached Storage (NAS) 2.01 incorrectly displays an FTP share that does not exist (886625)

SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer that is running Microsoft Windows Powered Network-Attached Storage 2.01 or Microsoft Windows Powered Network-Attached Storage 2.01 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the Web user interface (UI) incorrectly displays an FTP share that does not actually exist. Additionally, you cannot modify or delete the share in the Web UI.

CAUSE

This problem may occur after you install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on the computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, delete the Aspnet_client folder from the Shares Web site by using the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) snap-in. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Services Manager.
  2. Expand ServerName, and then expand Shares.
  3. Right-click the aspnet_client folder, and then click Delete.
  4. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the delete operation.
  5. Quit the Internet Information Services snap-in.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies To" section.
