SYMPTOMS

When you try to open the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Companyweb Web site (http://companyweb) after you have performed a disaster recovery of the Companyweb Web site, you may receive the following error message:
HTTP 500
Internal Server Error

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • The Windows SharePoint Services database files have been used on an installation of Windows SharePoint Services that has been upgraded to Service Pack 1 (SP1).
  • The current installation of Windows SharePoint Services is not running Windows SharePoint Services SP1.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you can upgrade the current installation of Windows SharePoint Services to Windows SharePoint Services SP1. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
