Cannot paste an item into a Word 2002 document in Works Suite (886561)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to paste an item into a Microsoft Word 2002 document in Microsoft Works Suite, you cannot paste the item. For example, the Paste option on the Edit menu in Word 2002 is not available.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you start Word 2002 after you copy the item. If you have the Works Suite Add-in for Microsoft Word installed, the Microsoft Windows clipboard is erased when you start Word 2002.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Start Word 2002 before you copy the item

To prevent this issue when you copy and paste an item into Word 2002, start Word 2002 before you copy the item.

Method 2: Remove the Works Suite Add-in for Microsoft Word

To prevent this issue if you do not want to start Word 2002 before you copy the item, remove the Works Suite Add-in in Word 2002. To do this, follow these steps.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Quit Word 2002.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. In the Currently installed programs list, click Works Suite Add-in for Microsoft Word, and then click Remove.
  5. Rename the Word global template (Normal.dot).
