Setup
To be able to install Microsoft Works, your computer must be
running Windows 98 Second Edition or later.
CAUSEThis issue may occur if your computer is running Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition, build 2222 B or earlier versions. This
problem does not occur if your computer is running Windows 98 Second Edition or
later versions.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, determine the version of the Microsoft
Windows operating system that is installed on your computer. To
determine whether your computer is running Windows 98 Second Edition build 2222 B, follow these steps:
- Right-click Start, and then click
Explore.
- On the
Help menu, click About Windows.
If your computer is not running Windows 98 Second Edition, you can
resolve this issue by upgrading to Windows 98 Second Edition or a later version
of the Windows operating system. If you are running Windows 98 Second
Edition build 2222 B, follow these steps to install Works 8.0: - Insert the Works 8.0 installation CD in your CD or
DVD drive.
- Double-click My Computer.
- Right-click the CD or DVD drive, and then click
Open.
- Double-click Instmsia.exe, and then
double-click Works8.msi.
- Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to
install Works 8.0.
