You receive an error message or the game is not saved when you play Zoo Tycoon (886472)

SYMPTOMS

When you play Microsoft Zoo Tycoon and try to save a game, you experience one or more of the following symptoms:
  • You receive the following error message:
    You do not have permission to save in this directory. See the administrator to obtain permission.

    Would you like to save in the My Documents folder instead?
  • The game is not saved.
  • While you are playing the game, or when you save the game, you may recieve the following error message:
    An error occurred while saving the game. Please try again.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • You log on to Microsoft Windows by using an account that does not have administrator credentials.
  • You try to save the game to a folder that only users who have administrator credentials can write to.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Log on as the administrator

When you play Zoo Tycoon and you want to save your game, log on to your computer by using an account that has administrator credentials.

Save the game to your My Documents folder

Note If you received the first error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section, click Yes in the error message, and then go to step 3.
  1. In Zoo Tycoon, click Options, and then click Save Game.
  2. In the Save in list, click My Documents.
  3. Type the file name that you want in the File Name box, and then click Save.
