FIX: The Discount Wizard in Discount Manager may create incorrect discount values in Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1 (886427)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1, when you use the Discount Wizard in Discount Manager to create a discount and to select one of the six predefined discount types, the discount types are created but the discount value may be incorrect. The following three predefined discounts types may generate incorrect discount values:
  • Minimum Purchase Discount
  • Buy N, Get 1 Free
  • Paired Discount
Note You do not receive an error message when you create the discount. However, when you modify the new discount, the discount value is incorrect.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Commerce Server 2002 service pack that contains this hotfix.

In Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1, Discount Manager includes the Discount Wizard. This wizard provides 6 predefined discount types. The following three discount types generate incorrect discount values:
  • Minimum Purchase Discount
    Offer a reduction on a minimum quantity purchase.
    • Expected: Buy at least three CDs and receive $1 off the price of each CD.
    • Actual: Buy at least three of any product and receive $1 off the price of each CD.
  • Buy N, Get 1 Free
    Offer a free gift with a minimum quantity purchase.
    • Expected: Buy five ties, and then receive one free.
    • Actual: Buy five of any product, and then receive one tie free.
  • Paired Discount
    Offer a price reduction on a product if another product is purchased.
    • Expected: Buy a bicycle, and then receive a helmet at 15 percent off.
    • Actual: Buy zero bicycles, and then receive a helmet at 15 percent off.
