The mouse pointer and the keyboard do not work as expected after you import a virtual machine into Virtual PC for Mac Version 7 (886378)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 7
SYMPTOMSWhen you import a virtual machine into Microsoft Virtual PC
for Mac Version 7, you may not be able to use your keyboard or your mouse while
Microsoft Windows starts. After Windows has started up, the
mouse pointer cannot leave the Virtual PC guest PC window unless you press the
COMMAND key. CAUSEThis problem occurs because older virtual machine files
contain Virtual PC Additions from earlier versions of Virtual PC for Mac. These
Virtual PC Additions are not fully compatible with Virtual PC for Mac Version 7 and the Virtual
Machine Additions for Virtual PC for Mac Version 7. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, you must install the Virtual PC for Mac Version 7
Virtual Machine Additions to the virtual machine. To install the Virtual Machine
Additions, follow these steps:
- On the
PC menu, click Install or Update Additions.
- Click Next two times.
- Click Finish, and then let the virtual
machine restart.
