You receive a "VPCSRVC.EXE has encountered a problem" error message when you try to update the Virtual Machine Additions in Virtual PC for Mac Version 7 (886375)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to install the Virtual Machine Additions to one
of the Connectix OS Pack virtual hard disk images, you may receive the
following error message: VPCSRVC.EXE has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If
you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might
be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem. We have
created an error report that you can send to us. We will treat this report as

click here. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Connectix OS Pack uses an
older version of the Virtual PC Additions that is not compatible with the
Virtual Machine Additions for Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 7. Virtual
PC for Mac Version 7 only
supports Connectix
Virtual PC for Mac version 5 or later versions of Virtual PC Additions
that are installed on virtual hard disk images from Virtual
PC 5 or later versions.
