Client connection accounts are not created when you perform an unattended installation of Systems Management Server 2003 (886155)

SYMPTOMS

After you perform an unattended installation of Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 where you create an SMSAccountSetup.ini file and put it in the %windir%\system32 folder on the destination computer, the client connection account is not created.

CAUSE

This behavior typically occurs when you add the SecurityMode=Advanced option under the [Options] section of the unattended SMSAccountSetep.ini file. The advanced security mode uses the local system account to run services and the computer accounts to communicate between servers. When you select this mode, the unattended setup process ignores the user account that you specified in the SMSAccountSetup.ini file. Therefore, the client connection account is not created.

WORKAROUND

To create a client connection account using an unattended installation in SMS 2003, add the SecurityMode=Standard option under the [Options] section of the unattended SMSAccountSetup.ini file.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
