The "All System resources for a specific advertisement in a specific state" report and the "Advertisement status message for a particular client and advertisement" report are inconsistent in Systems Management Server 2003 (886149)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003
SYMPTOMSWhen you run the "All System resources for a
specific advertisement in a specific state" report, it indicates that some computers are in a Failed state. However, when you run the "Advertisement status message for a particular client and
advertisement"
report on particular computers in the same group of computers, this report does not indicate that any computer is in a Failed state.
You may also notice
that some client computers have no summary data in the "All System resources for a
specific advertisement in a specific state" report. However, you can see their status messages in the "Advertisement status message for a particular client and
advertisement" report.CAUSEThis problem occurs because an SMS client's GUID changes when it is reinstalled. After a reinstalled client starts reporting status messages with
the new GUID, and before the discovery data record (DDR) with the new GUID is processed on
the SMS site server, status messages cannot be summarized. Therefore, the "All System resources for a
specific advertisement in a specific state" report and the "Advertisement status message for a particular client and
advertisement" report show inconsistent advertisement status.STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section.
