SYMPTOMS

The Offer Status Summarizer in Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 reports a 3812 warning when it tries to process a 10000 status message from an SMS Legacy Client. When you view the Offersum.log file on the SMS server, you see a warning that is similar to the following:Warn>: The status message was reported by component "SMS System Offer Data Provider (ODP)" with message ID 10000 which is not within the valid range of message IDs for that component (10000 to 10099). The message will be ignored.This problem may cause the software distribution status to be incorrectly summarized.

The 10000 status message that is reported by the SMS System Offer Data Provider (ODP) component contains the following text:A data integrity error was detected for advertisement "Advertisement ID" (\\SMSServer\CAP_SiteCode\OfferInf.box\AdvertisementID.ofr). The operating system reported error 13: The data is invalid.

Possible cause: The advertisement (.ofr) file on this Client Access Point (CAP) is missing, corrupt, or lacking data. The advertisement will not be run or displayed to users.

Solution: Modify the specified advertisement in the SMS Administrator console to force Offer Manager to update (rewrite) the advertisement files. Wait for Inbox Manager to replicate the change to the CAPs throughout the site before refreshing the list of advertised programs on the client (press F5 in the Advertised Programs Monitor). If the problem persists, check for disk problems on the CAP or for other external causes of file corruption.
