CPU utilization is 30 percent or more, and the Advanced Client does not install in Systems Management Server 2003 (885998)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to install the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Advanced Client, CPU utilization on the client computer increases to 30 percent or more. Additionally, information that is similar to the following is logged in the Ccmsetup.log
file on the client computer: Failed to copy C:\WINDOWS\system32\ccmsetup\client.msi.download to C:\WINDOWS\system32\ccmsetup\client.msi due to low disk space. Waiting for retry.
Shutdown has been requested
Failed to copy C:\WINDOWS\system32\ccmsetup\client.msi.download to C:\WINDOWS\system32\ccmsetup\client.msi due to low disk space. Waiting for retry.
Next retry in 10 minute(s)... CAUSEThis problem may occur if the following conditions are true: - The client computer has low available disk space.
- You try to shut down the CCMSetup service.
If a low-disk-space condition is detected, CCMsetup.exe retries the file-copy task immediately, even though the log file indicates that CCMsetup.exe will try again in 10 minutes. If you manually stop the CCMsetup service during this scenario, CCMsetup may start a processing loop where it repeatedly tries to download the Client.msi file. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, make more disk space available on the client computer by removing unnecessary files. After CCMsetup.exe successfully copies the Client.msi file, the client installation process continues. Advanced Client computers must have at least 90 megabytes (MB) of available disk space.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
