INTRODUCTION

This article discusses a list of Cluster service-related issues that were fixed after the release of Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4). These fixes apply to Windows 2000 SP4-based server clusters.

This article also describes an update rollup that contains all the updated fixes for these issues. An update rollup is a cumulative set of hotfixes, security updates, critical updates, and updates that are packaged together for easy deployment. This update rollup is a single package that includes many previously released hotfixes for Windows 2000 SP4-based server clusters.

MORE INFORMATION

For more information about the critical updates that are included in this update rollup, click the following article numbers to view the articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
  • 293778 Multiple-path software may cause disk signature to change

This hotfix resolves a problem that may occur if multiple-path software that uses multiple host bus adapters (HBAs) malfunctions. When this problem occurs, the disk signature on a cluster disk resource changes. Therefore, the disk resource fails. All the resources that depend on that disk resource also fail.
  • 832145 Event log information does not replicate to other cluster nodes after you install Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

This hotfix resolves a problem that may occur after you install Windows 2000 SP4. When this problem occurs, event log information may no longer replicate to other cluster nodes. Therefore, you cannot view event log information from only one cluster node. Instead, you must view the event log information on each node of the server cluster.
  • 872970 The quorum log file becomes corrupted in your Windows 2000 Advanced Server-based cluster environment

This hotfix resolves several problems that may cause the quorum log file (Quolog.log) to become corrupted. If the quorum log file becomes corrupted, the whole cluster may stop functioning.
  • 836760 A "Stop 0x7F" error message occurs intermittently when you access a storage device in Windows 2000

This hotfix resolves a problem that may occur when a cluster node accesses a storage device. When this problem occurs, the cluster node may sometimes experience a Stop 0x7F error when the node accesses the storage device.
  • 829246 Event logs are corrupted

This hotfix resolves a problem where an event log is corrupted because the log file is full and overwrites older event log entries. When this problem occurs, you may lose the historical data in the affected event log.
  • 822563 Computer restarts unexpectedly or you receive a "STOP: 0x0000001E" error message on a blue screen

This hotfix resolves a problem where you receive a "STOP: 0x0000001E" error message on a Windows 2000-based server or where the server restarts unexpectedly.
