SYMPTOMS
You are running the Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 agent on a computer that has the MOM 2005 Administrator Console installed. When you try to use the Uninstall Agents Wizard on this computer to remove the MOM 2005 agent, the MOM 2005 agent is not removed. You may receive an error that is similar to the following:
Was unable to submit the request to the MOM Management Server
(The Microsoft Operations Manager service - MOMService.exe) on computer ComputerName
In this message,
ComputerName is the name of the MOM 2005 Management Server.
When you click
Details on the MOM 2005 message, the following information appears:
Incorrect Function.
Result code: 80004005.
You may also receive this error if you perform one of the following actions:
- You right-click the computer under the Agent-managed Computers node in the MOM 2005 Administrator Console, and then click Run Attribute Discovery Now.
- You click Run Computer Discovery Now.
Additionally, when you use the MOM 2005 Operator Console, and you select
Computers under
Computer and Groups, and then you try to make an IP configuration change or scan the agent-managed computer, you may receive an error that is similar to the following:
Was unable to submit the request to the MOM Management Server
(The Microsoft Operations Manager service - MOMService.exe) on computer ComputerName
When you click
Details on the MOM 2005 message, the following information appears:
Incorrect Function.
Result code: 80040155
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, you must close the MOM 2005 Administrator Console and the MOM 2005 Operator Console, and then reopen these consoles. If the problem persists, you must restart the computer.
If you restart the computer and the problem still exists, remove the MOM 2005 Administrator Console, and then reinstall the MOM 2005 Administrator Console. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
- In Add or Remove Programs, locate Microsoft Operations Manager 2005, and then click Remove.
- Double-click Setup.exe at the root of the MOM 2005 installation CD.
- On the Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Setup Resources page, click Install Microsoft Operations Manager 2005, and then follow the prompts in the wizard to reinstall the MOM 2005 Administrator Console and the MOM 2005 Operator Console.
