SYMPTOMS
A Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 application tries to connect to a computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2000
by using the
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.Open method. When this behavior occurs, the computer that is running the .NET Framework 1.1 application may experience high CPU utilization and the computer may stop responding. A single thread will consume most of the CPU cycles because the thread is stuck in an infinite loop.
This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
- The application uses many concurrent
SqlConnection.Open method requests.
- The application encounters errors on some of the
SqlConnection.Open method calls.
