SYMPTOMS

You run an application to collect physical disk information on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer. The computer has more than forty physical disks. In this scenario, you may experience the following symptoms:
  • A memory leak occurs.
  • When you try to gather performance data, memory consumption increases. Additionally, one or more of the following symptoms occur:
    • The disk performance counters consume as much as 2 gigabytes (GB) of memory.
    • The performance monitoring program stops responding.
    • Some performance objects, such as the Logical Disk object and the Physical Disk object, disappear from the performance monitoring program.
