The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 64-Bit Enterprise Edition

SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 environment, you may experience faulty per-recipient processing in Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) event sinks. For example, Microsoft Exchange Server may incorrectly stamp per-recipient properties, and this may adversely affect mail handling. Additionally, you may notice that an RCPT TO command with customized arguments is unexpectedly rejected.

CAUSE

The faulty per-recipient processing in SMTP event sinks that is described in the "Symptoms" section occurs when the QueryCurrentRecipientIndex method returns an incorrect recipient index. And the RCPT TO command with customized arguments is rejected when delivery status notifications are not advertised as expected.
