SYMPTOMS

When you play streaming media content in Microsoft Windows Media Player 10, the media content may take longer than the expected time to start playing.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, change the buffer seconds of content to 1 second. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Windows Media Player 10.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. On the Performance tab, click Buffer.
  4. In the seconds of content text box, type 1.
  5. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.

MORE INFORMATION

The buffer seconds of content option specifies the buffering time. (The buffering time can be up to 60 seconds.) The longer the buffer time, the longer it takes for streaming content to start playing.
