Remote receive that uses "direct=http" is not supported when you use HTTP or HTTPS with Microsoft Message Queuing 3.0 in Windows Server 2003 and in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (884972)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Message Queuing 3.0, when used with:
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows Server 2003
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)

INTRODUCTION

You can only use a remote procedure call (RPC) to make remote calls to workstations that are running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2. If you try to use "direct=http" to do remote read, "direct=http" does not work with Microsoft Message Queuing 3.0 on workstations that are running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and on workstations that are running Windows XP Service Pack 2.

MORE INFORMATION

Remote read that uses "direct=http" will only work in Message Queuing 3.0 on workstations that are running Microsoft Windows XP and in Message Queuing 3.0 on workstations that are running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1. This functionality has been removed from Message Queuing 3.0 for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Message Queuing 3.0 for Windows XP Service Pack 2 because the functionality does not use the HTTP/HTTPS protocols and the behavior can be deceptive.

Note If remote receive is performed as "direct=https," remote read is not encrypted as you expect when you see "https."
