INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to use Microsoft Office Live Meeting on a Macintosh computer.

MORE INFORMATION

System requirements

To use Live Meeting on a Macintosh computer, your computer must meet the following minimum system requirements:
  • Mac OS 10.2 or a later version
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer for Macintosh 5.1 or a later version or Safari 1.0 or a later version
Note Mac OS 9 and earlier versions of the Macintosh operating system are not supported because of limitations in the Java Virtual Machine.

If you connect to a Live Meeting session through a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection by using a Web address that starts with HTTPS, you must use the following:
  • Safari 1.0 or a later version
  • Java for Mac, version 1.4.2_05
If you experience any issues when you connect to a Live Meeting session through an SSL connection, and you are using a proxy server, there may be a configuration conflict between the proxy server and your Macintosh computer. Try to bypass your proxy server to connect directly to the Live Meeting session.

Attendee and presenter functionality

The Live Meeting console provides full support for all attendee functions in a Live Meeting session. The Live Meeting console provides limited support for presenter functions. The following presenter functions are not supported:
  • Uploading a presentation to a meeting
  • Creating a Snapshot slide
  • Creating a Sharing slide
  • Sharing an application or a view
Note All other presenter functions are supported.

Recordings

Although a presenter can create a recording of a meeting by using a Macintosh computer, currently Live Meeting recordings do not play correctly on a Macintosh computer. This is because the recordings use a media compression format that is not compatible with Windows Media Player 9 Series for Mac OS X.

Add-ins

The Live Meeting Add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint is not available for PowerPoint for Mac.
