BUG: Active document menu items do not work when you click the double chevron (>>) on the menu bar in Internet Explorer (884932)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer (Programming) 6.0
- Microsoft Internet Explorer (Programming) 6 (SP1)
SYMPTOMSWhen an active document such as a Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel document is contained in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the document may display its custom menu in the Internet Explorer menu bar as a merged menu. If the menu bar is partly covered by another toolbar band or if the window is resized to be smaller than the length of the menu, the menu will display a double chevron (»). If you click the double chevron, a drop-down menu of the rest of the options that are on the menu bar appears. However, clicking any menu items from this drop-down menu that are added by the active document does not work. The Internet Explorer menu options will still work correctly.WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, do not cover up the menu items in Internet Explorer with a toolbar or do not resize Internet Explorer to be smaller than the length of the menu. This prevents the appearance of the double chevron. STATUS Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
