FIX: The Tab order does not work as you expect when an MFC dialog box contains an ActiveX control in Visual Studio .NET 2003 (884879)

SYMPTOMS

Assume the following scenario: You use Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 to create an application that displays an Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) dialog box that contains an ActiveX control. When the MFC dialog box also contains child windows that contain controls, the tab order may not work as expected. When you try to use the TAB key to move to any one of the child windows, the child windows are skipped over.

For example, this problem occurs when you have an MFC dialog box that contains the following:

A Masked Edit ActiveX control
A Tab control that contains the following:
- A Masked Edit ActiveX control
- A Button control
A Button control

When you use the TAB key to move past the first Masked Edit control in this scenario, focus goes to the last Button control. Focus then skips over the child controls that are contained in the Tab control.

Note This problem does not occur in Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Visual Studio .NET 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.
