You receive an error message when you try to convert a file to MP3 format in Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition (884840)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the Microsoft Plus! Audio Converter from Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition to convert or to resample a WMA file, a WAV file , or an MP3 file to MP3 format, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
0 of 1 files successfully converted. For more information, click Details on the status screen.


When you click Details, you receive information that is similar to the following: Details: The file cannot be converted because it uses an unrecognized codec.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 is installed on your computer. There is an incompatibility between Plus! Digital Media Edition and the MP3 codec that is installed by Windows Media Player 10.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, download and install the Plus! Audio Converter update. To obtain the Plus! Audio Converter update, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
