FIX: Windows Media Audio 9 Speech codec may lose synchronization (884723)

SYMPTOMS

When encoding a live source with the Microsoft Windows Media Audio 9 Speech codec, the audio stream may lose synchronization with the video stream.

CAUSE

The Windows Media Audio 9 Speech codec is not correctly handling frequency oscillator drift in the audio clock. This may cause audio and video synchronization problems to occur.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next release that contains this hotfix.
