An upgrade to Host Integration Server 2004 from SNA Server 4.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or earlier versions may not be completed successfully (884392)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to upgrade to Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 from Microsoft SNA Server 4.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or earlier versions, you may receive the following warning message:

setup.exe

This program does not run correctly on this version of Windows. To continue, click Run Program. To exit, click Cancel. For more information, click Details.

When you click Run Program and then you continue the upgrade to Host Integration Server 2004, the installation may not be completed successfully.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • The upgrade is from SNA Server 4.0 SP2 or earlier.
  • The operating system is Microsoft Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must first upgrade to SNA Server 4.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4) before you upgrade to Host Integration Server 2004.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

  • SNA Server 4.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3) and later versions are supported on Windows 2000 operating systems.
  • SNA Server 4.0 is not supported on Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
  • Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and later versions are supported on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
