You cannot force Entourage 2004 for Mac to synchronize with your Exchange server (884320)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to force Entourage 2004 for Mac and your Microsoft Exchange server to synchronize your Inbox by clicking Send & Receive in Entourage, your mail, contact, and calendar information that is stored in Entourage does not synchronize with the same information that is stored on the Exchange server. This behavior occurs if you have multiple e-mail accounts set up at the same time in Entourage.

A synchronization delay occurs between your Inbox and the Exchange server when Entourage scans for new e-mail messages in a different mail folder that belongs to another e-mail account. When this behavior occurs, the synchronization with the Exchange server stalls while Entourage scans for new e-mail messages from the other account.

You can force Entourage to synchronize your Inbox by using one of the following methods:

Method 1: Quit Entourage, and then restart it.
Method 2: Switch to an identity that does not have an Exchange account, and then switch back to the original identity.

Either method will force Entourage to synchronize your Inbox with your Exchange account one time per minute automatically.

Note When you right-click the Exchange folder icon in the navigation pane in Entourage and then you click Empty cache, you cannot force Entourage to synchronize the Exchange Inbox with the Exchange server either. The data that was removed when you emptied the cache downloads from the Exchange server into your Inbox, contacts folder, and calendar folder in Entourage.

Additionally, if you edit your Exchange account settings and then you click Reset Synchronization on the Advance tab, nothing occurs. Reset Synchronization does not force Entourage to re-synchronize with the Exchange server.

You can use Reset Synchronization to reset the data that Entourage uses to synchronize the contact and calendar information that is stored in Entourage with the contact and calendar information that is stored on the Exchange server.
