  • Microsoft Office Word 2003
  • Microsoft Word 2002
  • Microsoft Word 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you type text in a numbered list in one of the Microsoft Word programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section, the first word of the paragraph is not automatically capitalized.

Note If you type more than one sentence in a paragraph, the first word of the first sentence is not automatically capitalized. However, the first word of the second and of the remaining sentences are automatically capitalized.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, manually capitalize the first word of the paragraph in a numbered list.
