A workbook that contains a Hidden attribute is no longer hidden when you close the workbook in Microsoft Excel (883941)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, when you open and then close a workbook that contains a Hidden attribute, the Hidden attribute is disabled. And, the workbook is no longer hidden.

Note You do not have to save changes to the workbook to experience this behavior.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • The File is ready for archiving attribute is disabled.
  • The Hidden attribute is enabled.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, do not disable the File is ready for archiving attribute in the properties of the Excel workbook. When you do this, the Excel workbook remains hidden.
