The Java Classpath value is a path. If the path is longer than 255 characters, the Application Share installer does not recognize the Application Share add-in. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, use both the following procedures. Part 1: Make the Classes folder the default folderIn Windows Explorer, make the Classes folder the default folder for the Java class files. The new path will be shorter than the old path. To do this, follow these steps: - Start Windows Explorer, and then locate the following folder:
C:\Windows\Java VM\Classes\folder 1\folder 2\ folder 3\ folder 4\MyJavaFiles - Copy the contents of the MyJavaFiles folder to the following location:
C:\Windows\Java VM\Classes
Part 2: Change the registryChange the Java Classpath entry in the registry so that it matches the new path that you made in part 1 of the workaround. To do this, follow these steps. Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. - Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate, and then expand the following subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Java VM
- In the right pane, right-click the Classpath, and then click Modify.
- In the Edit String dialog box, modify the class path so that it matches the new path that you made in part 1 of the workaround.
- Quit Registry Editor.
Note The new path must be shorter than 255 characters. If you are not sure whether the new path is short enough, see the "More Information" section.
