You receive an error message when you install IntelliType Pro or IntelliPoint or when you start the IntelliType Pro Bluetooth Connection Wizard on a computer that is running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (883554)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft IntelliPoint Software 5.1
  • Microsoft IntelliPoint Software 4.9
  • Microsoft IntelliType Pro software version 5.1
  • Microsoft IntelliType Pro software version 2.3

SYMPTOMS

You may receive an error message in the following situations:
  • You install Microsoft IntelliType Pro or Microsoft IntelliPoint on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2.
  • You start the IntelliType Pro Bluetooth Connection Wizard on a computer that has been upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 2.
The following is the error message that you receive:
Intellitype Pro Bluetooth Connection Wizard has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows. For an update that is compatible with this version of Windows, contact www.microsoft.com/hardware

CAUSE

Changes that are introduced in Windows XP Service Pack 2 require updates for the following software versions:
  • IntelliPoint version 4.9
  • IntelliPoint version 5.1
  • IntelliType Pro version 2.3
  • IntelliType Pro version 5.1

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain and then install the following software:
  • IntelliPoint version 5.2 or later versions
  • IntelliType Pro version 5.2 or later versions
