SYMPTOMS
The User Name Mapping service on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.5 installed crashes occasionally and you receive the following error message:
Faulting application mapsvc.exe, version 8.0.2254.1, faulting module mapper.dll, version 8.0.2254.1, fault address 0x0000ac33
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
