You receive an Event ID 25109 "Class not registered" event in the application event log when computer discovery runs in Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 (883336)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 computer, computer discovery fails, and the following event is logged in the application event log:Event ID: 25109
Description:
Unrecoverable database errors occurred during duplicate alert checking or Insertion.... Details: TDasObject::CallDasMethod(Alert2BulkInsertAlternate) MOMService(B).mc8: Err:Could not create CLSID_DiscoveryDriver objecthr=0x80040154, 'Class not registered'

CAUSE

This problem is caused by an error in the security code handling of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the MS04-048 security update.
