Grammatik 5.0 Causes GP Faults when loading files into Works (88381)
The information in this article applies to:
- the operating system: Microsoft Windows 3.1
- Microsoft Works 2.0
This article was previously published under Q88381 SUMMARY
When you use a version 5.0 of Reference Software's Grammatik grammar
checker with files dated earlier than 6/1/92 with version 2.0 of
Microsoft Works for Windows and the Microsoft Windows operating system
version 3.1, you may receive the following error message
MSWorks caused a General Protection Fault in module <MSWORKS.EXE>
where the module "<MSWORKS.EXE>" indicated in the error message may
vary.
MORE INFORMATION
According to Reference Software Technical Support, only versions 5.0
of Grammatik with files dated 6/1/92 and later will work properly with
Microsoft Works for Windows with Windows version 3.1.
Note: Earlier versions of Grammatik supported Microsoft Works for
MS-DOS, not Microsoft Works for Windows.
If you use versions of Grammatik 5.0 with files dated earlier than
6/1/92 with Works for Windows, the file that is checked for
grammatical errors will be corrupted. This file corruption may result
in the error message described above.
If you only check grammar once for a particular file, you can recover
the backup file Grammatik makes before it begins a grammar check. The
recovered file will not be corrupt.
