You may not be able to fast-forward or rewind a movie in Windows XP Media Center Edition (878470)

SYMPTOMS

When you play a movie in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, you may not be able to fast-forward or rewind the movie.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the movie is encoded with the Windows Media Video codec. Movies that are encoded with the Windows Media Video codec are not indexed internally and cannot be fast-forwarded or rewound.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
