BUG: The catalog manager database update script always runs when you install Commerce Server 2002 Service Pack 3 (875293)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2002, Service Pack 3 (SP3)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Service Pack 3 (SP3), the catalog manager database update script always runs.

CAUSE

In earlier service pack Setup programs, you had the option to select the Microsoft SQL Server database updates that you wanted to run. However, the SP3 Setup program, Sp3setup.exe, does not include a user configurable option for disabling the catalog manager database update operation.

RESOLUTION

The catalog manager database update operation can be performed multiple times. Therefore, even in a Web farm environment, this update script can run from each Web server against the database. This behavior will not cause a problem.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
