FIX: A value that is not valid is returned when you select an option button by using an arrow key in a Visual C++ .NET 2003 MFC application (873412)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You create a Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003 Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) application. The MFC application contains a dialog box. The dialog box contains grouped option buttons and at least one ActiveX control. You compile the application, and then you run the application. In the dialog box, you select an option button by using an arrow key. In this scenario, a value that is not valid (-1) is returned for the option button that you select. This problem does not occur if you click to select an option button by using the mouse.

Note An option button is also known as a radio button.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.
