You cannot access the network after you use a WMI Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration script to change your IP address in Windows 2000 Server (873404)

SYMPTOMS

You are using the EnableStatic method for the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration script to change your network adaptor address from a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) address to a static IP address on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based computer. In this scenario, your computer loses all network connectivity, and you may receive one or both of the following error messages:
the network path was not found
System Error 1231 has occurred The network location cannot be reached
